Rocco Tasca

Set in Ascoli Picenza (Le Marche)

Rocco Tasca, a young lawyer who defends powerful companies in civil suits, has a brilliant career ahead of him. The leading light of a legal firm run by the attorney Sforza, where he works with his girlfriend Alice, he has to defend a hit and run driver, along with the latter's insurance company. After he wins the case, the victim's mother commits suicide outside his apartment. Rocco undergoes a crisis, resigns from the law firm, ends his relationship with Alice, who prefers to go on working for Sforza, and starts to take on cases in which he defends individuals and groups against the powerful companies that he once represented.

Season One Episode Descriptions
Episode 1:  A Case of Conscience

A formerly beautiful wife and mother has a facial nerve cut by mistake by a plastic surgeon. Rocco refuses the case when he learns the woman once had a drug problem, but he changes his mind when he learns more about the methodology of the medical group.

Episode 2:  A Deliberate Accident

When a cadet from a prestigious military academy falls to his death from a balcony, school officials are content to call it suicide. His family and friends know that was impossible given the victim’s enthusiasm at being a soldier. Rocco’s investigation uncovers bigotry and a malevolent code of misplaced honor among the cadets

Episode 3:  Like A Ton of Bricks

A plane crashes into a barn in the countryside, leaving a large family without husband, father, and breadwinner. Knowing that victory is unlikely, Rocco takes the case anyway and learns the extent to which corporate top dogs will defend themselves and their interests.

Episode 4:  Blackout

An elderly man who’s lived in an iron lung for decades dies during a power outage. His distraught son wants to take on the power company, who in turn accuses the invalid’s caretaker of negligence. The investigation reveals the motives of all parties in relation to the not-so-powerless invalid.

Episode 5:  Bebe's Snails

Local children are getting sick and dying from what appear to be environmental causes, and the primary industry in the area denies responsibility. Initial investigations prove nothing, leaving the factory owners blameless. One overlooked person speaks up and their information changes the game entirely.

Episode 6:  The Fourth Wall

A mixed-use apartment building mysteriously collapses, killing an innocent victim. Rocco and his team battle wealthy corporate interests who put the blame on the victim and her family. Rocco’s colleague Marta and her children become endangered from the thugs whose crime they witnessed.

Season Two Episode Descriptions

Rocco Tasca is involved in new cases. The arrival of Erica, an expert in forensic medicine, provides him with a love interest. But Erica, who holds Rocco responsible for her mother’s suicide years earlier, is trying to frame him in connection with an old case. Then she finds that her thirst for revenge cannot compete with her love for Rocco, a feeling he shares.

Shocked by the tragic death of his friend during a storm at sea, the onboard ship captain lies about the incident. However, his daughter Julia does not believe this version and turns to Rocco for legal help. 2005.

A man serves ten years in prison for the murder of his girlfriend, a crime for which he has always maintained his innocence. Rocco assures him that he'll try anything to get him out of prison. 2005.
